Summary

Details

The user creates a sheet metal file using a lofted flange feature with many bends in a version prior to Solid Edge 2020.  When they open this part in Solid Edge 2020 and try to unbend and rebend the model using the 'All Bends' option, an error occurs:

Solution

There were some enhancements done for Lofted Flange in Solid Edge 2020 which replaces b-spline bends with cylindrical bends.  It is necessary to upgrade the feature to the latest version in order to take advantage of the enhancements.

This is how to do this:

1. Select the Lofted Flange feature and click "Edit Definition".

2. Click "Yes" when prompted with the Upgrade dialog, which upgrades it to the latest version.

3. Click on the vertex mapping option and then using the "Vertex Mapping" dialog, add corresponding vertex map pairs from each profile.
4. As outlined in Step 2 dialog, the upgrade may require some redefinition to the downstream features.

5. It will be necessary to recreate the Unbend and Rebend features - then the model looks good.
