When loading a disconnected study for PS on TC Standalone, where do the disconnected study files get extracted? Does it clean up the files afterwards, or does the user have to do that?
Solution
Here is how it works:
Version 15.11. PS extracts the psz-tc under a directory %TMP%\pvw<four-hex-digits>.tmp
2. Uses additional directory for what we call Engineering Data: %TMP%\ENG<four-hex-digits>.tmp
3. And often one more additional directory: %TMP%\SCR<four-hex-digits>.tmp
Note that the <four-hex-digits> part is different for the different directories. It is a sequence generated by Windows.
When the scene is unloaded (which when PS is closed or scene is loaded again), the above directories are automatically deleted by PS.
Version >= 15.1.2 and HF 47 of 15.1There is a change in step 1 only.
Instead of %TMP%\pvw<four-hex-digits>.tmp, it goes under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Tecnomatix\PID.
Again, care is taken to delete the directories.
In addition, even if someone kills the PS process, on the next start PS will clean orphan subdirectories under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Tecnomatix\PID.
So, the directories would remain
only if PS terminates abnormally.
