Plant Simulation will not let me create a new model.
Solution
Check your license to see if the version of Plant Simulation is version level "Runtime" or lower. There are several different levels.
On the license file, it may say "PACKAGE CAR_PLANTSIM_RUNTIME2". If it is professional, it will be indicated with "PACKAGE CAR_PLANTSIM_PRO".
Also, if you go to FILE / PREFERENCES / LICENSE, you can see the different options.
Professional, Standard, Foundation, Application, Runtime, Research, Educational, Student and Viewer.
If you now know the level of software from the license, and it is lower than "Professional", you can change the software to the appropriate level (FILE / PREFERENCES / LICENSE).
In the "Runtime" version of Plant Simulation, you cannot Create a New Model. In the help menu, it says the limitations of this level of software are:
"With a Plant Simulation Runtime license you can neither insert any of the objects built into Plant Simulation nor user-defined objects nor can you use the programming language SimTalk.
The Plant Simulation Runtime license includes the optional modules of the interface package, Gantt, and the Assembly and Shop libraries".
At the time this FAQ was written, it is NOT stated in the documentation that one of the limitations are you cannot create a new model. That will be changed.
