What command and steps can mark an associative point on an object to indicate it being the shortest distance from another entity?

Example use case:
There is a circle and a line in modeling, how to find and create the point on that line which is the shortest distance to the circle center point.

Solution

Use the Measure command with following options defined:

Settings:
  |--No option required (the associative option will automatically be on from later steps)

Preferences:
  |--General
      |--Display Coordinates of Reference Points - Toggle ON
      |--Create Individual Coordinate Expressions - Toggle ON

Selection Object to Measure
  |--Object = pick Line            (This will be the Start Point)
  |--Point = pick centerpoint (This will be the End Point)

Expand the "scene dialog" towards the right-side, press in both this buttons within the row "Start Point" and "End Point":
  |--Create an associative measure feature
  |--Create geometry associative to measure feature

OK the Measure command and the associative point marker will be created.

Notes and References

It should be noted that this option is only available when you create the measurement.  You can't create the point at a later time during edit.
