How can I change the order of the displayed characteristics in the Standard Parts menu (PartFinder) in the assembly environment? e.g. sometimes the thread length is displayed before/above the thread size. I want to exchange these two characteristics and select the thread size first without the need to scroll down.
Solution
You can control which property is displayed first by changing the order in the Standard Parts list. Click on 'Show Standard Parts list' (the 'open book' icon) in the Standard Parts menu which changes the display to columns.
In this view style horizontally drag and drop any column header to define the order you need. Then 'hide Standard Parts list' (red 'closed book' icon) and the new order will be kept in the other display.
Note:
After changing the order, when you switch back from 'Show Standard Parts list' to 'Hide Standard Parts list' the order will not have refreshed. If you click on a different category, then come back to the category, the order will update.
It is also worth getting used to the 'Show/ Hide Standard Parts list' toggle and select sizes (characteristics) in both lists as they behave a bit differently:
Preselecting one characteristic in one view will filter the list in the other view.
A click on a column header sorts the contents of the column.
