Summary
Details
After starting the ProE Data Migration process Creo Parametric starts and suddenly interrupts the process with the following message:
The ProE Data Migration log window simultaneously shows the message: "Could not start ProE session on ProE host. Either ProE is not installed on the specified ProE host or ProEStartUpFile entry in INI file is not correct." It also documents the termination of the migration.
Solution
Close the "UNNAMED" message (it will end the Creo Parametric session as well) and close the ProE Data Migration log window.
Execute the following steps to unlock the Creo Toolkit application:
Open an Administrator Command Prompt
Change the directory to <PTC_PATH>\<CREO_VERSION>\Parametric\bin (e.g. cd /d "D:\apps\PTC\Creo 5.0.4.0\Parametric\bin")
Unlock the application with the command: protk_unlock.bat "<SOLID_EDGE_PATH>\Program\ProESEServerSide.dll" (e.g.: protk_unlock.bat "C:\Program Files\Siemens\Solid Edge 2020\Program\ProESEServerSide.dll")
Note the message of success: "... Successfully unlocked application."
Close the Command Prompt window and repeat the ProE Data Migration. It should now work as expected.
Notes and References
If the situation sporadically reoccurs the following commands entered in a batch file will help to easily redo the unlock task.
@echo on cd /d "D:\apps\PTC\Creo 5.0.4.0\Parametric\bin" call protk_unlock.bat "C:\Program Files\Siemens\Solid Edge 2020\Program\ProESEServerSide.dll" pause
