A user finds that when they are in the Draft environment and try to save a file as PDF, the system throws a message :

"Solid Edge is being closed because the system is low on memory."

Solution

A potential method to resolve this issue is to uninstall and reinstall the Solid Edge Printer.

Here is the process:

1) In the Control Panel please select the "Devices and Printers" Button - you will see all available Printer Devices and Drivers:

The latest Device for Solid Edge 2020 is the "Solid Edge PS Printer 3.0".

In the example above there also appears a legacy Device from Solid Edge, which is "Solid Edge Velocity PS Printer 2.0"

2) You should delete the latest devices and any legacy device that might be there in order to have a clean system.  Click with the Right Mouse Button onto each Symbol and select "Remove Device".

You will see, that in front of this option there is a blue-orange shield that indicates this is being done as an Administrator.

After that the devices are removed.

3) To install the Printer Device again, you will have to go to the program Directory of Solid Edge 2020:

4) There you will find an executable called "PrinterInstaller.exe"

5) Right Mouse Button click on this and select the option "Run as Administrator" to install the Printer Device.  Please note, a simple installation without using Administrator rights will be unsuccessful!

Once the installation has ended, you will see the Solid Edge PS Printer 3.0 again as an active Device.
Now when saving a draft file as a PDF, this should work correctly and not throw the error message.
