About "Infer PMI Effectivity" option and also about the "Display PMI Associated" options.

Solution

The "Infer PMI Effectivity" option essentially turns on Configured Effectivity PMI in NX.
Once that is enabled the visibility toggles (Any/All) are available under Preferences -> PMI -> PMI and then there is an effectivity tab that shows the same options so they can be changed during a session.

PMI Effectivity Management means that we manage the display of Assembly PMI objects based on the Effectivity of the components to which they have references. We only show the PMI that are relevant for the Effectivity used to configure the components in the Assembly.

We infer the Effectivity of the PMI from the effectivity of the components. If a component is configured out because of Effectivity settings, then the PMI tracking geometry on the component is not displayed. If the component is not loaded for any other reason, (or PMI Effectivity Management is not enabled), then the PMI behaves like it always has, the PMI go retained if the geometry they are looking for is not present.

Note: To convert components to reference components you can use the teamcenter preference "TC_NX_Reference_OccTypes" . (Specifies the occurrence type names that needs to be treated as reference geometry by NX).
