How do you create a roller chain using the Pattern Along Curve?

Solution

Pattern Along Curve has an option to specify a skip count when using the chord length option. To create a roller chain:
- create a sketch for the chain path
- place your inner and outer links at one end of the sketch
- select the Pattern Along Curve and pick one of the links
- select the sketch for the path
- select a start point and direction
- enter the proper spacing, number of occurrences, and skip count = 1
- change the orientation to "Follow Curve Chord"
- Preview and Finish

Repeat the steps for the other link. You may need to use the "Project Point to Curve" if the link is offset from the end of the sketch. For detailed information, including a video, review the Help topic "Along Curve pattern parts command (assembly)".
