I want to set Solid Edge Data Management properties columns in a defined position order from left to right in the CPD (Common Properties Dialog) and forward it to other workstations. How to do this?
Solution
Currently there is no possibility to forward the column position order within Solid Edge itself, however this can be achieved by sharing the appropriate Registry Key:
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Siemens\Solid Edge\Version 220\General\BuiltInPropManager\UnManaged".
Please note that it is important that the same Properties are set on each Client otherwise Solid Edge will not recognize the columns or overwrite the registry.
Assuming that you are working in a Server/Client environment where the Setting and Solid Edge Data files are located on a Server and used by each Client:
1. Setup on one Client (e.g. WA1) the columns positions and sizes.
2. Start the Windows Registry Editor.
3. Export the Registry hive "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Siemens\Solid Edge\Version 220\General\BuiltInPropManager\UnManaged"
4. Copy the registry file to another client (e.g. WA2).
5. Check that the same Properties are set on this client via Solid Edge Options - Managed - User Properties (from the propseed.txt file located on the data Server).
6. If not, set the Properties.
7. Start the Registry edit.
8. Rename the existing "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Siemens\Solid Edge\Version 220\General\BuiltInPropManager\UnManaged" to e.g. UnManaged_old to have it as backup. It can be deleted if all works as expected.
9. Import the copied registry file.
10. The key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Siemens\Solid Edge\Version 220\General\BuiltInPropManager\UnManaged" is added.
11. Start Solid Edge.
12. Create a new Part file in Solid Edge > Save.
The CPD should come up with the Properties in the same position order as the first Client.
