Details

Installing a monthly update to an NX Continuous Release installation (NX 1847 and beyond) can result in the SPLM_LICENSE_SERVER system environment variable being modified / reset to its original value. This can cause a licensing error when NX is started after an update is installed.

Solution

A workaround to this issue is to use the 'Licensing Tool - Environment Settings - Edit' option to specify the license server information. This information is stored in the Windows Registry entry 'Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Siemens_PLM_Software\Common_Licensing\NX_SERVER', and as this value is used in preference to the SPLM_LICENSE_SERVER variable, there is no adverse consequence if the license server variable is modified during the software update.

(Alternatively, the original license server information stored in the Windows Registry entry,  'Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Siemens\NX xxxx\LICENSESERVER', can be modified to the required value.)

This issue is resolved in the NX 1899 Series - March 2020 Monthly Update (NX 1911).
The value of the SPLM_LICENSE_SERVER variable will be retained.
