Details

A customer works in a managed multi-CAD environment (NX and Solid Edge). Both NX and Solid Edge create JT files that are uploaded to Teamcenter.  The NX generated JT files appear fine.  However, when a Solid Edge generated JT is uploaded to Teamcenter, these files look overexposed in Viewer and Visualization and colors seem to change during translation

Workflow:

  • Save an unmanaged Solid Edge file as a JT file.
  • Upload the JT to Teamcenter using Add to Teamcenter Interactive
  • Result: The JT file will appear overexposed in Visualization and Viewer

Is there something we can do to prevent the SE files from overexposing?

Solution

The workaround for this is to edit the SePvTrn.ini.

Change the value of the parameter below from 1 to 0:

Use Solid Edge Resolution =0

Make sure to keep LOD settings to the default.  Changes in this value may cause different geometry.

Default LOD settings:

[LOD 1]Level = 1Chordal=0.001Angular=20Length=0FeatureSuppression=0Simplify=1.0AdvCompressionLevel = 0
[LOD 2]Level = 2Chordal=0.0035Angular=0Length=0FeatureSuppression=0Simplify=0.4AdvCompressionLevel = 0.5
[LOD 3]Level = 3Chordal=0.01Angular=0Length=0FeatureSuppression=0Simplify=0.1AdvCompressionLevel = 1
