NX Work part is changing unexpectedly when creating projected curve in assembly context

You may experience the case where trying to create a projected curve in an assembly component while referencing data in another component, but after setting the work part and starting Project Curve, selecting an edge in the referenced component made the assembly the work part. 

Solution

This behavior is the default in NX.

To change it, go to the Selection tab and toggle OFF 'Allow Automatic Work Part Change'.
