Solid Edge Assembly relationships in error after bend feature of sheet metal part unsuppressed

Summary

Details

In this example the user has an assembly of sheet metal parts.  All assembly relationships are correct.

The user then edits into a part and unsuppresses a bend feature.

After saving the part file and returning to the assembly, the result is that there are many constraints with failure errors.

Solution

This is working as designed.  Effectively what has happened here is that the face has been split by the bend but both faces retain the same name.  When the bend is suppressed both "faces" will be coplanar.  When the components are then assembled any relations with the faces are all consistent.

However, when the feature is unsuppressed, as a result one of the faces is no longer coplanar - in this case perpendicular to the other face with the same name.  Consequently, when the assembly relations try to rebind to the geometry, should they try to latch on to the bent face whilst doing the solve, this will result in conflicts, hence all the errors.

Rather than trying to fix each individual failed relation, a workaround to try is to do a Replace part and replace the part with the bend with itself.
