How to create a point (and/or the Principal Axes) at the Center of Gravity/Mass of a Part or Assembly using the new Measure command in NX 12.0.1 MP1 and NX 12.0.2?

Solution

To create a point and/or the Principal Axes at the Center of Gravity of a Part or Assembly:

1. Select the (new) Measure command from the 'Home' or 'Analysis' ribbon bar (or 'Menu -> Analysis -> Measure').

2. In the 'Object to Measure' section of the command dialog check 'Object' (or 'Object Set' for an assembly).

3. In the 'Result Filter', ensure the 'Body' option is selected.

4. Select the body of the part (or multiple bodies within an assembly) and the measurements will be displayed in an in-scene dialog.

5. Select the right-hand border of the results window to expand it and reveal the 'Creates geometry associative to...' icons. Select the icon in the 'Center of Gravity' and/or the 'Principal Axes (Xp)' rows, and icon will turn yellow when selected.

6. Select 'Apply' or 'OK' on the command dialog to create the point/axes.
