Details

You experience failures during save of Solid Edge files like shutdown of Solid Edge or even corrupted Solid Edge files.

Is there a way to log failures during save of Solid Edge files?

Solution

We have code in place to create a log file of errors during the save process which can help development to solve the issue. If you suspect save failures due to network instability or other reasons you can enable the following debug switch in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Siemens\Solid Edge\Version xxx\DEBUG\LOG_SAVEFAILURES_TO_FILE = 1

With this switch enabled, any save failures should be captured in the %APPDATA%\Siemens\Solid Edge\Version xxx\SaveFailuresLog.txt. This file can provide information about why save ends in an error or even corrupt files.

The log file eventually gets very long because every failed save process is logged. The user may want to rename it once a day and give it a sensible name including the date like yyyy-mm-dd-SaveFailures.txt.
