In a Solid Edge file I can orientate the coordinate system, then in View Manager I can select the iso Named View and redefine it to this orientation using 'Redefine to Current'.
Subsequently I can 'Apply' this view from the same View Manager/Named Views window.
However if I use the keyboard shortcut – Ctrl +i then it will jump to the original/default iso view. Why?
Solution
The keyboard shortcuts are not tied to the Named Views and will explicitly apply the default/internal definitions for top, bottom, left, right, front, back, and iso orientations.
There have been requests to be able to change the keyboard behaviour, however this could have an adverse impact on the existing customer base. The primary obstacle is that the Named Views are localized and it would require significant effort to implement user-defined overrides.
A possible workaround would be for the user to write a macro to apply the desired orientation via automation which could then be subsequently assigned to a keystroke.
