Starting with Solid Edge 2020, you may receive the following error message:
Invalid (inconsistent) License Key
The CID in the license file is correct and also the environment variable SE_LICENSE_SERVER points to the correct license file. Even the emergency license file throws the same error message.
Solution
The reason for this behavior is that starting with Solid Edge 2020 the licensing has changed. Solid Edge now uses the Common Licensing Tool (CLT) with the ugslmd daemon; prior to Solid Edge 2020 the selmd daemon was used.
Because of this change the license check will not only be made for the increments in the license file but also for the Vendor String.
If the vendor string contains any special characters, also known as "high bit characters" , then these special characters will cause the problem.
The solution is to contact the CAA and ask to replace them to replace any special characters with an equivalent ASCI low bit character.
As an example, the Vendor String "Tæst" would cause the problem because of the letter 'æ'.
Replacing this 'æ' with "ae" will resolve the issue.
