How to set a Solid Edge Data Management "checked out" file, which was checked out by a user who is not available, back to "available"?
Solution
In this case the Solid Edge Data Preparation Tool can be used to set the file Status to "Available".
Please follow these steps:
1. Select the Microsoft Start Button.
2. Go to the "Siemens Solid Edge 2020" Program Pulldown .
3. Start the "Data Preparation Utility".
4. Prepare data for Solid Edge should be checked on the Generate Import List Tab. Select Files/Folders> select Add Files > then browse to the Folder of the other user's checked out file > select the file and generate the List.
5. Excel will startup with the file listed.
6. Switch to the "SE Data Prep" Tab.
7. Select the row of the file (if it is not selected)
8. Select in the "File Utilities" Area "Set File Status"
9. Select "Available" and wait until a dialog informing Changed Status of 1 Files to "Available" appears.
The executed Macro (Macro functionality must be allowed) will immediately change the File Status so that no save of the Excel file and further investigation is needed.
