Summary

Details

The solid models of two clamp assemblies are selected as Check Geometry in a Workpiece. How is this model geometry used in a Planar Mill or a Planar Profile operation when placed under that Workpiece? Notice in the picture below that this clamp geometry is colored red when the Specify Check Display flashlight icon is pressed.

Solution

When Check Geometry is selected in the Workpiece it is not used by a planar mill type operation during tool path generation. Notice in the illustration below that the operation does not consider the geometry but shows the tool cutting through the clamp.

The Check Geometry selected in the Workpiece is used when Tool Path Gouge Check is run on the operation, though. Notice in the image below that collisions with the Check Geometry are reported.

To keep the tool from running into the clamps add Check Boundaries to the operation, instead.

When the operation is generated with this boundary data the tool will retract to the clearance plane to prevent it from hitting the clamps.

Tool Path Gouge Check will, also, report an error if the tool collides with any Part Geometry defined in the Workpiece.
