What are the working folders inside the Standard Parts.  What do I need them for?  What are the options in the Standard Parts application "Use assembly folder as working folder" and "Copy to working folder"?

The general working folder location for Standard Parts is defined in the Configuration Wizard:


If you use the default options inside the Standard Parts application you do not make use of this working folder at all.

Regardless of any options all standard parts are always generated to a folder named by their standard:


These paths are stored as links in the assemblies where the parts are placed.  This behaviour can be changed by activating the "Copy to working folder" checkbox in the Standard Parts application.

With this option checked, the part is generated as usual and then there is a copy created in the working folder.  This copy is then referenced in the assembly.  This way of use could be useful e.g. if the user wants to make an individual user part from some standard part and add a feature to it.  The original Standard Part would be available in the normal folder structure and the modified copy would be in the defined working folder.

In addition, you can select to use the assembly folder as the working folder by selecting the option "Use assembly folder as working folder" in the Standard Parts application.  The part would still be generated in the standard folder structure and a copy of the part would be placed in the assembly folder.  The assembly would then point to the part in the assembly folder.

If the option "Use assembly folder as working folder" is checked and the option "Copy to working folder" is unchecked no copy will be made of the Standard Part.
