Details

Sometimes it is not possible to fit the region to be filled into the view and at the same time click into the area to be filled.

Solution

The solution to this is to select the geometry to be filled prior to starting the fill command.

The prompt for the fill command states: "The bounded area must either be completely visible while in the fill command or pre-selected prior to starting the fill command."

The pre-selection works well and gives you opportunities to fill whatever you need to fill.

This is how it works.

  1. Zoom out and fence select the geometry in which you want to place the fill. The select set can contain additional geometry. It does not have to be limited to only the geometry bounding the fill area.
  2. Window area around the area you wish to click for the fill. Right mouse click to terminate the window area command.
  3. Start the Fill command and click in the area to be filled. Notice that the fill command uses the geometry in the select set to determine the boundary for the fill.
