NX 3D PDF file fails to open in Acrobat Reader - "A 3D data parsing error has occurred"

A 3D PDF file, created using the NX Technical Data Package functionality, fails to open using the Adobe Acrobat Reader. The following message is display, "A 3D data parsing error has occurred":

The official response from Adobe is that this error occurs because an entity found by the Adobe Acrobat Reader failed an internal check. 

This is an intermittent issue.
The root cause is unknown.

Solution

Changes in recent versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader appear to address this issue; however, if you receive this error while opening a 3D PDF file published from NX TDP the recommendation is to uninstall and reinstall the latest version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

If the problem persists, open a Support Case with Siemens Digital Industries Software and upload the problematic PDF file.
