NX Unable to open NX part file on double click

Double clicking on NX Part file, no more loads the part file in NX session even after Updating/Reinstalling NX versions.

Solution

The default action defined by a NX installation starts the ugs_router.exe" executable with appropriate parameters which opens new or activates existing NX sessions.

Untill NX12 the .prt file extension was associated and binded to the "UGPartfile" class, since NX1847 it has been changed to "NXPartFile".

 
So the related Registry keys are found accordingly at
 
 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.prt]
 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\NXPartFile]

For example from a file association in the Registry (here from NX1855 Installation):
 
 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\NXPartFile\shell\open\command]
 @="C:\Program Files\Siemens\\NX\NXBIN\ugs_router.exe" -ug -use_file_dir "%1"

Please note that incorrect registry edits may result in problems, so make sure to edit them correctly and  the official solution would be to run the NX setup again using the "Repair" Option, if available.
