Having generated some geometry it appears, that the part file size increases significantly, after having done an analysis with Simulation Express and saving the part.

Can the part file size be minimized?

Solution

Before Solid Edge 2020 we stored the Simulation Express data as a stream within the part file itself.  As there is no chance to extract this stream after that, the file size will remain big.

Starting with Solid Edge 2020 Simulation Express was replaced by the functionality of Solid Edge Simulation - this tool extracts the Simulation data in to a separate file with the suffix .ssd.

Accordingly, with Solid Edge 2020 the file size of the part will not increase during Simulation.
The workaround for parts, that include Simulation data and that are pre-Solid Edge 2020 is to make the  mesh as coarse as possible, to delete the Relations and also the Forces if possible.
