Why can parts not be added to Standard Parts?

I want to add my own Solid Edge parts to the Solid Edge Standard Parts Database but always get the message "Cannot write stream [Stream read/write error [SMAPINFO]]" and the part is not added to the database.

Solution

If you want to add your own Solid Edge parts to the Solid Edge Standard Parts Database choose the option
"Add new user part file(s)..." in the Solid Edge Standard Parts Administrator.

Then choose "Add from manual data entry" because this allows you to add the needed Standard Parts information (SMAPINFO) to the part.

The Standard Parts information (SMAPINFO) is stored inside the part itself but invisible within Solid Edge. This option is not needed if you add a copy of a existing Standard Part because the SMAPINFO is already in the part and in the copy.
