Summary

Details

NX can be configured so that Weld feature information is published to Teamcenter and is visible as objects in the TC structure manager for the parts / assembly.

For example, here are two fillet welds created in NX and how they are displayed in TC structure manager:

However, when a weld is deleted in NX and the assembly saved the welds remain visible in Teamcenter and are not deleted. Furthermore, additional copies of existing welds are added to the product structure.

Notice in the image below, one Fillet weld has been deleted, but after saving the original welds remain and an additional new weld has been added:

Why is this happening and how can it be avoided?

Solution

The Weld Management Feature needs to be added to Teamcenter in order for the weld publish functionality to work correctly.
If the Weld Management feature is not added to Teamcenter it is still possible for welds to be published to Teamcenter but the icons will not be displayed correctly in TC Structure manager and will not update as expected.
This is the weld icon style if Weld Management has not been installed in Teamcenter:

This is the style after the feature has been added:

To ensure the correct results, use TEM to add the Teamcenter Weld Management Feature.

This will result in the Weld features in Teamcenter showing the correct icon and updating correctly after modifications in NX.
