Solid Edge Surface area of assemblies for treatment such as painting

Solid Edge measurement of area in assemblies will show the sum of every single part.  The user requires only a specific area which has to be treated - such as painted, so any touching faces (e.g. two parts screwed together) should be ignored.

Solution

Try the following workaround:

1.  Do a simplification of the assembly, using the command "Visible Faces".
2.  Save the simplification as a part.
3.  Open the part and measure the surface.
