When viewing folders and items in the Teamcenter Rich client sometimes the Home and Newstuff folder names are becoming empty and other items are not displaying their names correctly.  A Refresh operation is required to correct the display.

Why is this happening and how can it be avoided?

For example, after performing actions in NX and returning to Teamcenter Rich client the display looks like this:

Solution

This and other similar problems are occurring due to the session sharing functionality that was introduced in Teamcenter 11.4 and then utilized by NX12.0.2 and later.

Specifically some changes in NX12.0.2 MP10 and in the NX 1847 series resulted in the phenomena of Folders and Items not displayed correctly after a Save Operation or other similar file actions have been performed within NX and the user then returns to Teamcenter.

If you encounter the above problems in NX12.0.2 or NX 1847 series when running with earlier versions of Teamcenter  you can disable session sharing for NX Manager by setting environment variable UGII_DISABLE_EVENT_SHARING_WITH_RAC=1

In NX 1859, a NX customer default was introduced for this functionality. It can be found under Teamcenter Integration --> General --> General tab. It is called "Synchronize Settings from Teamcenter to NX ".

This customer default replaced the environment variable and is disabled by default in NX 1859 and later.

Session sharing allows information about changes in group and role settings to be synchronized between NX and Teamcenter.

Notes

See also FAQ 001-9313792 which describes a different issue with double click of datasets which can be resolved by turning off Session Sharing.
