A customer recently bought Solid Edge Wiring Design and wanted to know if and when a USB Dongle version of the Floating licensing is going to be available.
Solution
Solid Edge is discontinuing the use of licensing dongles completely starting with Solid Edge 2020.
The Solid Edge Electrical products, including Wiring Design, are already using the Siemens Common Licensing platform, and Solid Edge will follow this common licensing with all products following the release of Solid Edge 2020 in the summer of 2019.
Solid Edge using common licensing is locked against a Composite ID (CID), just like the NX & TC products currently do.
