Summary

Details

In an assembly  the user creates sketches for a rectangular and circular or pattern.  When placing a component in the assembly and defining an Axial Align to the reference point of the pattern sketch it is possible to select the reference point of the rectangular pattern sketch but not that of the circular one.  Why?

Solution

This is working as expected.  In the case of the rectangle, the assembly relationship is not actually locating the reference point of the pattern sketch - rather it is locating the vertex created by the connection point of two of the lines forming the rectangle.  We do not to locate to pattern points, only to geometry.  So in the case of the circle, only the center-point of the circle could be selected since that is really the only point associated with a circle's geometry.

The workaround would be to draw a partial circular pattern, then its end points will be selectable whilst defining the Axial Align relation.
