Summary

Details

A CAM program is created to mill a part that is made of a very difficult to machine material. For this reason the part is cut with many small step over passes. A move to the clearance plane is also needed so that the cutter inserts can be easily changed. The tool path might look something like the picture below when complete. How can this tool path be created?

Solution

1. Create a Planar Mill operation and select the Floor Plane.
2. Create the Part Boundary as an Open Boundary Type.

3. Set the Cut Pattern to Standard Drive.

4. Uncheck the Non Cutting Moves -> More -> Collision Check setting.
