Solid Edge provides for floating licenses an Environment Variable called SELMD_LICENSE_FILE.
But there is no hint if this variable has to be defined as a System variable or a User variable.
Solution
There is no rule, where to define this variable for Solid Edge Licensing.
Just like the registry system has registries that are specific to a user, the user environment variables are specific to the user's login.
At the end of the day it only matters which value this variable has , because FlexLM checks this value for licensing. It can be defined as the path to the Solid Edge license file if a customer prefers the license to save on a non default directory, or it can be used for to find the license server : Portnumber@FlexLMservername, e.g. 27001@Machinename_SEFLEX.
