Received a new license with a temporary feature. What is needed to set it up correctly?
Solution
First, if this is a Named User feature in the license, the ugslmd.opt file must be updated with that feature.
Open the new license file, and find the INCREMENT line corresponding to the new feature.
Verify the the keyword "USER_BASED" appears in the INCREMENT line; if it does, then open the ugslmd.opt for edit.
In the ugslmd.opt file, add a new INCLUDE line similar to those existing already, but replace the second field of the line with the second field of the INCREMENT line from your new license feature.
Save the ugslmd.opt file.
Stop the license server using lmtools.exe.
Copy the existing old license file to a new name (e.g. splm8.orig).
Copy the new license file to the old license file name (e.g. splm8.lic), and place it in the license server folder.
In the new license file, verify the SERVER line has your license server computer name referenced; if it says "this_host", replace that with the license server computer name.
Save the license file if needed.
Using lmtools, start the license server.
In lmtools, on the Config Services tab, View log.
In the log, verify the server starts up with the correct features for the new license.
If any errors are seen, contact GTAC, and provide your license file, the ugslmd.opt, and the license server log.
