Details
Sticky Modules were introduced as of NX 9.0 but there is not much information
regarding them nor how they work.
Solution
Sticky Modules are special license features that allow NX to "create" bundles
on the fly based on the user's usage of NX. They cost less than individual
floating license features but have the caveat that they must be 'manually'
released from a NX session. Sticky Modules will 'stick' to a bundle when they
are checked out but won't be reserved when the bundle is initially accessed,
unlike the components of a 'suite' bundle. A 'sticky module' will remain
attached to the user's session until it is manually released via the NX
utility 'Select Bundles' or by exiting out of NX.
For example, to manually release the Sticky License NX PMI / NXS10410 (i.e.
MA_geometric_tol) from a NX session, do the following:
File --> Start --> Gateway
File --> Utilities --> Select Bundles
Below "Licenses Attached To Bundle", select "MA_geometric_tol"
Then press the button "Free Selected Licenses" and press OK
The license is now available for the next user.
Notes and References
1. Sticky Modules only work for NX 9.0 and higher.
2. NX Product and Manufacturing Information (PMI) - S [NXS10410]
Description:
NX Product and Manufacturing Information (PMI) - Sticky License NX PMI is an
application that enables NX users to digitally author 3D annotation and
product data in a solid part or assembly. PMI includes 3D dimensions, 3D GD&T
(Geometric Dimension and Tolerance) data such as datums and feature control
frames, 3D notes, and customizable non-geometric information that can be
directly associated to an NX model. NX PMI is compliant with national and
international 3D annotation standards. This module will remain attached to the
user session until manually released.
