Why are meshes active in a fem but inactive in sim?

Solution

 2D meshes can be flagged as "do not export to solver" 

If this flag has been set the meshes wil not be active in .sim files.

To change the flag, make the .fem file the work part and edit the mesh associated data. 

Toggle on the "export to solver" option
