How to control set body Density to a value of zero.

Solution

1. Create a new "Blank" inch part.

2. Make block. 'Insert -> Design Feature -> Block -> Use dimensions of 4 x 4 x 4'.

3. View properties or information object and note that the default mass is:

Density (Lb/Cu Inch) = 0.28290000000

4. Assigned ABS material.

5. View properties and note the mass is:

Material ABS Density (Lb/Cu Inch) = 0.03793360287

6. Use Manage Materials and remove the assignment material, which now reports:

Density (Lb/Cu Inch) = 0.03793360287

7. Activate "Edit Solid Density" function and select solid body.

Set the Solid Density and Units as needed.

8. Now, save the part. NOTE: Go to 'File -> Preferences -> Modeling -> General (tab) -> Density & Density Units'.Both Density & Density Units are automatically assigned to each body within NX. Assigning and removing materials are just those materials, which will alter the Density, but never set it to zero (bodies in NX never have a zero density by default).Using "Edit Solid Density" to alter or preset in a new part template file the Density and setting it to zero will by default always report a zero density, until any operation ("Edit Solid Density" or Material) alters the density.
