In a linked mirrored part, how can the 'Mirror Part Type' be edited from 'Exact
Mirror' to 'Non-exact Mirror - Keep Broken Links'?

Solution

The main difference between 'Exact Mirror' and 'Non-exact Mirror - Keep Broken
Links' is as follows:

Exact Mirror = when the source entities are deleted, the mirrored part
will immediately delete the resulting broken linked features.
Non-exact Mirror - Keep Broken Links = when the source entities are deleted,
the mirrored part will contain broken linked features which
 will not be deleted.

If an 'Exact Mirror' part needs to be changed to a 'Non-exact Mirror - Keep
Broken Links' part, this can be done by editing the MirrorPartType attribute.
1. Open the 'Exact Mirror' part.
2. In the Assembly Navigator, select the part.
3. MouseButton3-->Properties.
4. In the Properties dialog, select the 'Attributes' tab.
5. Select the attribute: MirrorPartType
6. The Value drop-down will have 3 values.
 - ExactMirror
 - NonExactMirrorKeepLinks
 - NonExactMirrorDeleteLinks
7. Toggle the Value drop-down to: NonExactMirrorKeepLinks
8. OK the Displayed Part Properties dialog.
9. Select 'File-->Save' to save the part after this change.
This will internally update the MirrorPartType attribute for this particular
mirror part. The mirror part update behavior will be according to the
MirrorPartType attribute value chosen.
