How to overlay sketch geometry on an imported image file in the Modeling 
application.



Solution

 First, insert the image file on a plane. 
1. In the Menu, select 'Insert-->Datum/Point-->Raster Image'. 
2. Specify the plane to insert the image. 
3. Next to the 'Current Image' field, select the Browse folder and 
 navigate to the desired image file. 
 NOTE: Image files can be .jpeg, .png, or .tiff format. 
4. OK the Open Raster Image File dialog. 
5. OK the Raster Image dialog to insert the image onto the selected plane.


Next, insert a Sketch on the same plane as the image. 
6. In the Menus, select 'Insert-->Sketch in Task Environment'. 
7. Create the Sketch Plane on the same plane as chosen in step 2 above. 
8. Select a Sketch creation option such as 'Profile' to starting sketching 
 on the plane over the image. 
9. When complete, select 'Finish' to exit the Sketch application.


If needed, the imported image can now be hidden to see only the finished 
sketch.



Notes and References

The sketch will NOT be associated to the image file.
