NX Changing the default seed part template is not working as expected

Changing the NX customer default seed part template is not working as expected.
The defined seed part is not used when an item / item revision without NX dataset is opened and Display Seed Part Dialog Box is set to No.


Instead the out of the box default "Metric" part is used.


Why does this happen?

Solution

When defining Default Seed Part for Parts without NX Dataset in NX customer defaults under Teamcenter Integration --> General there are 2 possible pitfalls:
- The seed part definition must be done using Item name (DB_PART_NAME) and not the Item number (DB_PART_NO).
- The defined seed part must reside in the "Unigraphics Seed Parts" folder of the "infodba" user in Teamcenter.
