Assembly Clearance analysis not producing accurate hard interference distance value.

Is there a way to configure the accuracy of this value?

Solution

Per NX Help Documentation: Home> CAD > Assemblies > Advanced assembly commands > Representations, it states that representations are used with Clearance Analysis.

This means the tolerance values for representation of the bodies in the components will determine the accuracy of the calculated interferences distance value.

Use the following steps to modify the tolerance of a representation:

1. Make each of the components involved in the Assembly Clearance analysis the Display Part

2. Use "menu >Assemblies > Advanced > Representation":
Click on "Edit Facet Parameter".
Highlight body (or the name of the representation in the list). OK

3. In the Edit Facet Parameters dialog, change the value for Distance Tolerance and Angle Tolerance. Try these values:
Distance = 0.001
Angle = 0.5

4. OK the dialog.
Repeat for all components involved.

5. Run the Assembly Clearance analysis by executing "Perform Analysis" on that existing SET, examine the Interference distance value, this should become more accurate.
