NX What are Model View Previews used for in NX?

You may be concerned about NX Save performance and be considering disabling the generation of Model View Previews. Understanding what these used for should help you to make an informed decision.

Solution

 On the File Properties dialog you will find Model View Previews area. The "Store Previews" toggle controls whether or not each view image will be generated and stored within the NX part. You can select from the following Creation Time options:


On Part Save
On View Save
On Demand




Once created you can go to the Part Navigator and expand the "Model Views" node. Now when selecting any model view in the list the preview image will then be displayed in the Preview panel at the bottom of the navigator. These previews allow the user to evaluate the model without actually accessing the view and waiting for it to be generated.
