NX How to make SPLM Licensing work when a Firewall exists on the server?

Details

NX workstations remote from the Siemens PLM License Server are unable to get a
license when a Firewall is turned on at the server. The Firewall is blocking
TCP/IP socket communication between the Siemens PLM License Server and the NX
workstations.

Solution

The easiest way for licensing to get through the Firewall is to add PROGRAM
EXCEPTIONS to the Firewall on the server for the following licensing binaries.
For example, assuming Siemens PLM Licensing is installed to the default
location:

    C:\Program Files\Siemens\PLMLicenseServer\lmgrd.exe (license manager daemon)
    C:\Program Files\Siemens\PLMLicenseServer\ugslmd.exe (vendor daemon)

Alternatively, if PORT exceptions need to be made as in the case of VPN,
TWO ports would need to be added and opened for both inbound & outbound
traffic:

    1. Port 28000 for lmgrd (default)
    2. Static port for ugslmd (e.g. 28002)

Notes and References

Assign a STATIC port (variable by default) to the vendor daemon 'ugslmd'
by adding the PORT keyword to the VENDOR line in the license file, for
 example:

 SERVER servername COMPOSITE=xxxxxxxxxxxx 28000
 VENDOR ugslmd PORT=28002
