Why is there a $1 appended to the Camera names when creating a PMI Section
View?
Solution
1. Create a new part and insert a block.
2. Make the FRONT Model View the active (work) view.
3. Create a PMI Section View.
4. BOTH a Model View and a Camera are created by the name: SECTION OF FRONT
5. Make the FRONT Model View active again.
6. Delete the SECTION OF FRONT Model View.
(Leave the SECTION OF FRONT Camera view.)
7. Create another PMI Section View.
This time it cannot create BOTH a Model View and a Camera called SECTION of
FRONT because the Camera by this name still exists. So a Model View called,
"SECTION of FRONT", and a Camera view called, "SECTION OF FRONT$1" is created.
The PMI Section View will create both a Model View and Camera views by the same
name. If PMI Section Views are continuously created, a Model View and Camera
are created with the appended: #1, #2, #3, etc.
However, if PMI can create the Model View, but there is already a Camera by
this name, it will create the Model View, and append a $1 to the Camera name.
