I have a proportional heater controller setup in my model and the load will
not activate, even when the sensor element is well below the cut-in
temperature. Why is this happening?
Solution
The single most common cause for problems with heater controllers not
functioning as expected is failing to set the solution to one of the advanced
solution types(advanced thermal, advanced thermal-flow, NX advanced
Thermal/Flow with ESC). The use of an advanced license is required to use a
heater controller. If the solution is not set to one of the advanced
solutions, then the load with a heater controller will not be written out. The
only indication of this is a warning, similar to the following, in the
solution export log:
Modeling Object Error Summary
=============================
WARNING
Active Heater Controller = Active Heater Controller1
Unsupported entity will be ignored for this solution.
Note that the advanced solution types do require an additional license. If the
user does not have an advanced thermal license, the solution will fail with
licensing error.
The following document discusses the differences between the standard and
advanced solution types and will list what features require an advanced
license.
