How to reuse Role from old to new Windows machines.

Solution

If the Role has not been manually saved, it will need to be collected from the default save location that is dynamically read and used from.

NX Role location: 


C:\Users\(user login)\AppData\Local\Siemens\NX90

Note, the above path is for NX9.0; NX10 would be \NX100; NX11 would be NX110; NX12 would be NX120; etc.

The default files name is "user.mtx".




To use this Role in NX10 and later releases, select 'File -> Preferences -> User Interface -> Roles -> Load Role'.


NOTE: Always use 'File -> Exit' when closing NX so that it can automatically save your interface changes.


You can manually and interactively backup your Role by selecting 'File -> Preferences -> User Interface -> Roles -> Save Role -> assign a useful name (NX10_and that day's date) -> select "OK" through the extra options -> OK'.


This manually saved Role will be easy to find since you created it and it can be easily restored in the future on any machine.
