When instances are created from the Pattern Feature command, if user creates additional modeling operations (like Edge Blend, Extracted Face, etc) on those instances, and then later changes the pattern feature count to eliminate those instances, NX does not warn user that there are dependencies being deleted automatically.
How to have NX display a warning instead of automatically deleting when those dependent features are failing playback?
Solution
This is due to "Delete Child Features" customer default setting.
In NX 11: If you turn this customer default OFF, then the child features should fail with warning when editing the pattern feature and changing the number of instances.
In NX 12, 1847: If you set this customer default to "No", then the child features should fail with warning when editing the pattern feature and changing the number of instances.
Customer Defaults->Modeling->General->Edit->Delete Child Features
