When dragging an existing ordinate dimension to a new location, there seems to
be a "snapping" distance for the new location of the dimension. The snapping
distance that the cursor is jumping is too large and is causing the
dimension to be placed incorrectly.
How can this snapping distance or snapping point be modified?
Solution
NOTE: If a snapping distance is not desired, hold down the ALT key on the
keyboard while dragging the ordinate dimension to allow the the dimension to
be relocated freely without snapping points.
If a snapping distance is desired, after creating an Ordinate dimension, the
'Spacing' setting for Margins can be modified.
1. Hover the cursor over the ORDINATE origin.
This is the origin that the ordinate dimension is using, usually labeled
"ORDINATE1" or "ORDINATE2", etc.
2. MB3-->Edit.
3. In the Ordinate Dimension dialog, select the 'Margins' button.
4. Change the 'Spacing' value to something very small, like .1.
NOTE: The value needs to be greater than 0.0.
5. Exit the dialog.
Now drag the dimensions to a new location. The "snapping" distance should be
much smaller giving better control over the placement of the ordinate
dimension.
