NX for Design

Summary

Details

Some Drafting default settings can be defined in the template file and others cannot.

One method that can be used to set Drafting defaults is to open the drawing template file in NX and use 'Drafting Preferences' to set the required default values for particular Drafting parameters, and then save the template file.

These defaults are then used when a new drawing is subsequently created using the template file.

However, not all Drafting parameters are part specific settings and so cannot be stored in the template file.
One example of this are the settings related to the format of Detail View Labels.

Solution

To determine if a particular Drafting Standard setting can be stored in a template file, use 'File - Utilities - Customer Defaults' and select 'Find Default' to search for a specific Drafting parameter. Enlarge the dialog to display the 'Scope' column. If the scope value is 'Part' it can be stored/set in the template part, but if the
Scope is 'Session' it is defined by the setting in the defaults file.
