Have an assembly with 3 components. Two of the components are deformable parts, so in the assembly there exists 2 deform part features. One of the deformable parts are suppressed through arrangements.
The assembly is translated from NX to STEP using AP203, (or AP214). The resulting STEP file contains just one deformable part component, which is correct as the other was suppressed through arrangements.
BUT, both the deformable parts bodies show up in the STEP assembly. After a closer examination the remaining deformable part component is empty and there are 2 bodies in the assembly itself.
How to translate an assembly like this and get the expected result, i.e. one deformable part component with one body inside?
Solution
The NX to STEP AP203 and AP214 translators are not designed to handle a situation like this. The deformable part features in the assembly itself is interpreted as the body representations, the deformable part components are subsequently considered to be empty and the suppression of one of the components is therefore not taken into account with respect to the bodies, only with respect to the component.
The solution is to use the STEP AP242 translator . This translator honors the special characteristics of a deformable part and processes them accordingly.
Please note that the STEP AP242 translator is a separate product, i.e. requires a specific license.
